A Sustainability Impact Case Study is a co-developed publication that captures your company’s sustainability journey, initiatives, and outcomes. Each ICS is rigorously developed through research, editorial review, and due diligence to ensure credibility. It serves as a powerful storytelling tool that demonstrates how your sustainability actions translate into measurable impact.

The ICS initiative is open exclusively to Corporate Members of UNGCMYB who are ready to showcase impactful sustainability projects, innovations, or success stories.

Unlike a standard case study, an ICS with UNGCMYB is:

• Co-created with academic or non-profit partners, adding independent credibility.

• Structured on the Sustainability Performance Enablers (SPE) framework, ensuring alignment with recognised sustainability benchmarks.

• Professionally developed, covering research, writing, design, and amplification for maximum visibility.

• Amplified regionally, with promotion across ASEAN platforms and UNGCMYB’s networks.

The development fee is RM 25,000 or BND 8,000, subsidized for UNGCMYB members upon submission of their 2025 Communication on Progress (CoP). This fee covers end-to-end development: research, writing, design, branding, and amplification.

Members who joined UNGCMYB in 2025 are not required to submit a CoP this year and are therefore automatically eligible for the subsidised rate.

The ICS process is collaborative and comprehensive, covering:

1. Research and co-development with a UN PRME University Partner

2. Drafting, editorial review, and quality assurance

3. Design and layout for publication

4. Amplification on UNGCMYB platforms and partner networks

5. Seal of Impact certification (Business, Industry, National, or Global)

The full process typically takes 2 months from start to publication.

Impact Case Studies are not self-submitted stories. UNGCMYB identifies member companies with sustainability initiatives that demonstrate measurable impact (Category 2 and above in the Impact Framework). Companies are shortlisted based on criteria such as relevance to sustainability challenges, data credibility, and alignment with the UNGC Ten Principles and SDGs.

Every Impact Case Study is subject to a structured due diligence process that includes:

• A questionnaire anchored in the Impact Case Study Framework and Sustainability Performance Enablers.

• Independent input through co-development with a UN PRME University or non-profit partner for added credibility.

• Technical review by UNGCMYB’s internal committee to ensure accuracy, transparency, and risk compliance.

• Fact-checking and verification with the company before publication.
  

Only initiatives that meet these standards receive the official Impact Seal (Business, Industry, National, or Global).

Data used in case studies must be transparent, verifiable, and supported by internal systems (monitoring & evaluation) or independent validation. The review process examines both quantitative results (KPIs, measurable outcomes) and qualitative insights (challenges, lessons learned) to ensure authenticity.

Each case study is evaluated using UNGCMYB’s Impact Framework, which measures outcomes across five categories: Output, Business, Industry, National, and Global. This ensures that both immediate results (such as activities delivered) and longer-term systemic changes (such as influence on industry standards, national policies, or global ecosystems) are recognised. Case studies that demonstrate significant impact at Business level and above are eligible to receive an official Impact Seal, signalling the scale and credibility of their contribution to sustainability.

Each Impact Case Study is assessed against UNGCMYB’s 10 Sustainability Performance Enablers (SPEs), which cover areas such as leadership & culture, governance, resources, supply chain, partnerships, and data management. These enablers ensure that impact stories are not only about outcomes, but also about the underlying systems and practices that made success possible. This approach provides a holistic and credible view of how sustainability is embedded across the organisation, giving stakeholders confidence in both the results achieved and the processes behind them.

No. The Impact Case Study initiative is available year-round. Companies can co-develop a case study with UNGCMYB at any time to showcase their sustainability journey, strengthen reporting, and enhance visibility.

To be considered for the Forward Faster Sustainability Awards, companies should begin the ICS process by the mid of November. This ensures sufficient time for the two-month development, due diligence, and review process before the nomination deadline at the end of December.

Your case study will be featured on UNGCMYB platforms (including the Quarterly Bulletin, website, and ASEAN Impact Hub) and can be repurposed for corporate communications, sustainability reports, investor engagement, and branding campaigns.

No. Publishing a Sustainability Impact Case Study ensures your company is eligible for nomination to the Forward Faster Sustainability Awards. However, the final winners are selected by the judging panel, based on impact and performance assessed under UNGCMYB’s Sustainability Performance Enablers (SPE) framework.
