ESG Breakthrough Innovation

Sarawak Energy commissioned Malaysia’s first utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System in 2024, with a capacity of 60 MW / 82 MWh. The system enhances grid stability and resilience by providing frequency regulation and reserve capacity, while enabling greater integration of renewable energy and reducing dependence on carbon-intensive peaking power generation.
Purposeful Partnership

Sarawak Energy Berhad strengthened regional decarbonisation through cross-border collaboration to export renewable electricity to Sabah, enabled by East Malaysia’s first inter-state grid interconnection. Commencing in December 2025, the initiative supports regional energy security, reduces reliance on fossil fuels, and advances clean energy integration under the broader Borneo and ASEAN power connectivity agenda.
