The ESG Select List 2025, organised by the UN Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei (UNGCMYB), recognises UNGCMYB Corporate Members organisations that demonstrate consistent commitment, creativity, and progress in embedding sustainability within their business operations and communities.

Unlike the Forward Faster Sustainability Awards, which involve a competitive judging process, the ESG Select List is a non-competitive, non-rank recognition that highlights dedication, transparency, and continuous improvement in advancing the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Companies featured on the List will receive a recognition certificate, inclusion in the official UNGCMYB ESG Select List e-directory, a digital badge, and a communications kit with ready-to-use visuals and suggested messaging – symbolising their leadership in sustainability action.

The programme is open exclusively to UNGCMYB Corporate Members.

Any member organisation that has implemented sustainability-related initiatives, programmes, or disclosures that align with the SDGs is encouraged to submit a nomination.

Members may submit nominations under the following five categories that form part of the ESG Select List — a recognition platform that spotlights leading sustainability actions and enablers within Malaysian businesses:

1. Purposeful Partnership – Recognising impactful, cross-sector collaborations that advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through shared purpose and collective action.

2. ESG Breakthrough Innovation – Celebrating transformative ideas, products, or business models that accelerate sustainable growth and redefine industry norms.

3. Future-Fit & Responsible Workforce – Honouring organisations that champion inclusivity, capability-building, and employee engagement to nurture a sustainability-driven workforce.

4. The North Star: ESG Target Setting – Highlighting clear ambition and accountability through robust ESG targets, measurable progress, and transparent disclosures.

5. ESG Trailblazer – Acknowledging holistic ESG leadership and consistent commitment to integrating sustainability into core business strategy and operations.

Each category recognition under the ESG Select List contributes one star, representing excellence in that specific dimension of sustainability performance — from partnerships and innovation to workforce development, target setting, and ESG integration.

These stars will be reflected in the organisation’s official ESG Select List badge, providing a visual representation of the number of categories in which the organisation has been recognised.

Organisations that achieve recognition across all five categories will be awarded the ESG Select List 5-Star Badge — the highest distinction under this initiative, symbolising holistic and sustained sustainability leadership across environmental, social, and governance dimensions.

No. The ESG Select List is a non-competitive, non-ranked recognition. There is no judging, scoring, or comparison between companies — each organisation is reviewed solely on its own merits.

No. There is no cost associated with submitting nominations for the ESG Select List for UNGCMYB corporate members.

No. There is no ranking and no cap on the number of companies that can be recognised. Multiple organisations may appear under the same category if they meet the criteria.

Simply complete the online Nomination Form, detailing your initiative, its objectives, impact, and supporting evidence.

Multiple nominations may be submitted if your organisation wishes to be considered under more than one category.

However, nominations are reviewed on a rolling basis, and early submissions are encouraged to allow time for assessment and recognition arrangements.

Each submission is reviewed by UNGCMYB’s Internal Technical Committee against the established criteria.

Once a nomination has been assessed, UNGCMYB will notify the organisation to confirm its inclusion on the ESG Select List 2025.

Following confirmation, representatives from UNGCMYB will arrange a recognition visit to present the token of recognition and capture the company’s story for communications use.

If a visit cannot be arranged, recognition materials will be delivered by post.

All nominations are evaluated based on:

• Relevance and alignment with the chosen category

• Credibility and evidence of impact

• Consistency with the UN Global Compact Ten Principles and SDGs

Selections are made by UNGCMYB’s Internal Technical Committee. There may be more than one recipient in each category.

Recognised organisations will receive:

• A digital badge denoting your star rating;

• A recognition certificate from UNGCMYB;

• Inclusion in the official UNGCMYB ESG Select List e-directory; and

• A communications kit with ready-to-use visuals and suggested messaging for your internal and external announcements.

Companies listed on the ESG Select List 2025 will be featured in the official UNGCMYB ESG Select List e-directory, showcasing their recognised initiatives and sustainability achievements. They will also be highlighted through UNGCMYB’s communication platforms — including the Quarterly Bulletin, social media channels, and partner publications — to inspire peers and amplify visibility across the network.

Yes. Organisations recognised on the ESG Select List 2025 may also submit nominations for the Forward Faster Sustainability Awards, as both initiatives are distinct but complementary.

The ESG Select List serves to acknowledge meaningful sustainability action in a non-competitive format, while the Awards recognise exceptional, measurable impact through a competitive judging process.

Participation in one does not influence or determine the outcome of the other.
